Sweetwater

The eight-member ensemble Sweetwater was born in Los Angeles in the late 1960s and was a psychedelic smorgasbord of a jam band who opened for or toured with just about every major band of the period. In the most significant opening gig of their career, Sweetwater was the first band to play at Woodstock. The band's success was cut short when lead vocalist Nancy Nevins was involved in a nearly fatal car accident that severely damaged a vocal chord. Sweetwater disbanded following Nevins' accident, but reunited in '97 for a VH1 film.
