Concert Summary

Amidst the synthesizer-heavy sounds of rock, a punk/new wave scene in full throttle and the heavy metal bands dominating the music scene in the early 1980s came the unmistakable rockabilly sounds of Long Island's the Stray Cats. Whenever people ask me what the best concert I ever saw was, it's ALWAYS the same answer. The opening act was the Bus Boys (from Philly, I think and the movie 48 hours). They rocked for about an hour, and they closed the curtain to set up the Cats behind, and brought out 6 microphones. A doo-wop group called 14 Carat Soul bridged the time between the Bus Boys, and the Stray Cats. There were also no seats on the floor in the St Louis Kiel center. 10,000 people on the dance floor. One of the greatest nights of my life.

Saw them several times in TO but the most memorable for me was the first time at the masonic temple. I went in decked out in my leathers and blue suede creepers with a foot high black pompadour held in place with purple dye and mustache wax, I walked out with my face stained purple, the hair hanging down below my chin from the wax melting and completely soaked with sweat absolutely phenomenal show
