Wow, I am a long time fan of the Wolf. This is fabulous. I never got to see Wolf live in their heyday. Got deathly sick for a Fillmore show I had tickets for- couldn't hear actually. Only later did I finally see the band long after Larry Byrom, Goldy McJohn, Mike Monarch. Anyway IMO, the Doors and Steppenwolf were the greatest bands of the late sixties with the two greatest singers. They got me in to music never to look back. Disappointment Number has always been one of my favorite songs but I never picked out the song due to the tuning being a mystery. Well, for the guitarists out there, I believe the tuning is E (bass) A E E A E, either an old two note blues or Samoan tuning.

I cant believe that the Monster album is not in the top 100 of all time. If you get a chance listen to it from start to finish.

Saw them in the late 60,s and again in Utah last year on the 4th of July...they havent missed a beat ( despite the bikers kaoying everyone) they always did draw the fringe crowd!!!! I had a ball both centuries!! Keep on truckin people...get up and dance.......

Listening in 2009, its not hard to see why this band pointed me into my musical direction in the early summer of '68. Son, son, that Monarch guitar and Mcjohn organ duo made the magic that propelled the star. That sound still haunts the soul...

Steppenwolf was one of the most influential bands in my musical life. Learned to play drums and bass from these guys, in my best friends garage, jammin' the summer days away, all day, every day. Ahhhh......the memories..... Great site! Great music.

Great great sound. McJohn really leads the way! First time I've heard Disappointment # live. Always had to pull my Steppenwolf 2 vinyl out to hear. Excellent version of Please don't GO. Best concert on the site.
