About

Sha Na Na

Sha Na Na will never forget their pivotal performance; appearing second-to-last and one act before Jimi Hendrix on the final day of a little regional festival known as Woodstock. Sha Na Na was the only group at Woodstock without a record deal, but that status would change quickly. Formed in 1968 at Columbia University and dressed in turtlenecks and navy blue blazers, the original members of Sha Na Na were undergraduate members of The Kingsmen, a glee club ensemble that performed a cappella versions of '50s rock 'n' roll songs. Following their big break at Woodstock, they performed regularly at the Fillmore East and went on to film a variety show and to appear in the hit musical movie Grease. Over the years, Sha Na Na enjoyed success on many levels and achieved renown for their live shows.
