The Tubes formed in San Francisco in 1972 and originally consisted of Bill Spooner, Vince Welnick, Rick Anderson, Roger Steen Prairie Prince, Michael Cotten and Fee Waybill. The Tubes were a satire rock band who cunningly goofed on pop culture and donned suits and ties onstage. They saw most success in the '70s, scoring a cult following from their boisterous live shows and radio staple "White Punks on Dope."
