Bunyan had released a single in 1965 under Oldham’s direction. It was a cover of a Jagger-Richards song, "Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind" (the Rolling Stones’ version did not come out until the group’s Metamorphosis album, a collection of mostly unreleased tracks released in 1975). Under the direction of Oldham, Bunyan released a handful of singles in the mid-‘60s

What kind of a fan am I today? In some ways I’m unchanged, and I still look for and sometimes find in the music exactly whatever it was I hungered after when I was 16 (proof that the world is a passionate place; a friend in the lonely night; release for my anger, confusion, idealism, desire fear and love).

First let me admit… I haven’t been able to wrap my head around all the myriad dimensions of this album. It’s like an archetypal journey that I’m still experiencing. But, if I were to sum up its sound, I’d tell you that it is fusion mixed with Syd Barrett-styled vocals mixed with the earthy mysticism of woodland creatures on mushrooms.
