    I remember the moment I realized writing a book about the Dead Kennedys would be something of an uphill battle. It was in February of 2002. I had just been introduced to East Bay Ray, the group's long-faced guitarist, in the middle of an empty rock venue in Jacksonville, FL.     In June of 1967, two highly regarded psychedelic albums hit the streets and achieved legendary status: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles and One Nation Underground by Pearls Before Swine, a band that was virtually unknown.     All I know is that Violent Femmes are the angstiest (whatever the hell this really means) band I’ve ever heard.
