Stephen MalkmusFebruary 25th at Great American Music Hall
Anyone who’s heard Stephen Malkmus, whether fronting Pavement or the Jicks, knows he’s an adventurous songwriter, but he was particularly anything-goes at the Great American Music Hall on Wednesday night. Following a relatively mellow acoustic set by local popster Kelley Stoltz, Malkmus came to the bare stage with an iBook in hand in place of a set list.

Rock ‘n’ roll always came naturally to Cash—he’s one of the very few artists inducted into both the Country and Rock Halls of Fame. Between his early rockabilly and Man in Black outlaw persona, Cash was always a badass, one of the originals. Campbell is a different story, though. With his honey voice, smooth good looks, and accessible hit songs, he was much more MOR (middle of the road) than Cash

Happy New Year, Crawdaddy! readers!!! Oh, er… sorry about that. They only let me contribute to Crawdaddy! at the end of the month, so I'm a bit late. Hooray for 2009, though, right? Shit is awesome so far. New president, Animal Collective, the Boss, American Idol, hilarious old hippies, etc. May the rest of it be even a fraction as fruitful.
