Results for LoveOne of the first integrated rock groups, Love was a seminal West Coast band of the 1960s. Love was formed in the early '60s by singer/songwriter Arthur Lee who came up with the idea of calling his band "Love" because "It's a big word, it's the best part of life." Lee's definition of love, however, was somewhat idiosyncratic: "We got to love each other. My preference is to get along with everybody... As long as you do what I say, no problem." Lee's psychedelic genius was the core of Love's appeal. With a garage-band-folk-meets-The-Doors homespun taste, Love's elusive style shorted the group out of mainstream success. Nonetheless, the acclaimed '67 album Forever Changes remains a cult classic in any professional's psychedelic record collection....more

I remember standing at the back of the Unicorn, a small club in Boston, in spring of 1967, watching Jefferson Airplane do a set.
