Results for Iggy PopAs Stooges' front man, Iggy Pop led with a rebellious, hostile view of life. Formed in 1967, the Stooges were a Detroit band mainstay with their high voltage, onstage antics, and in their live performances Iggy appeared possessed, rousing crowds and mutilating himself onstage with broken beer bottles. Iggy was born James Jewel Osterberg and began calling himself "Iggy" after his first band in high school, The Iguanas. Much of his success was channeled through the vision of friend David Bowie who produced a string of Pop's albums and helped get him off the streets when Iggy was at a low point of homelessness and drug addiction. Iggy Pop's musical journey from the '70s, '80s and into '90s includes the highs and lows that distinguish as one of punk-rock music's pioneers.“more
