Concert Summary

Roxy Music's 1979 album, Manifesto, along with its corresponding tour, from which this show was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, marked a much-anticipated reunion for the group. Although the band had not officially broken up, they had announced an extended hiatus in 1977, so the members (especially Bryan Ferry) could record, tour and pursue solo identities in the music business.

Ferry had cut a successful second solo album and did one of his earliest solo…entire summary

I saw Roxy in Boston in 79, they played the entire Manifesto LP and then the hits it was one of the technically briliant concerts i ever saw. The show started with the band building up into a beat playing "Manifesto" then the curtain rose and Bryan was there in that red leather suit and the band just took control.. Super show !

I, too was at this show. Opener was Robert Gordon. Anyone remember him? This recording is outstanding and the band is as well. Awesome musicians. The Tower was awesome back in the '70's.

this is some great stuff! I don't know what instruments/sounds Eno is playing, only that it puts this band on the map. Plus, the amazing grooves the rhythm section supplies lets Phil play in or out of tune all he wants! Andy is supurb! And Brian is, well, Brian. The only vocalist that has that warbling sound...killer band.

I saw Roxy too in Boston when they did the complete Manifesto album, the show started as the band built up into a driving rythm and then the curtain lifted and there was Bryan in a red leather suit and he did the song Manifesto then they went through the whole LP then did the hits. i was balcony center in front row with my girlfriend and now wife.. that was one the best shows of musicanship of that decade for me... I saw at SO MANY shows in Boston starting in 1970 and then the era really ended in 79 that year Dire Straits played their first US show at the Paradise Cafe on Comm. Ave and I was lucky enough to be there for that one.. Love those days !!
    Peace, Sean

Speaking of Moogs, I attended an interview with Eno once sometime in the 80s. During the interview, he commented that many people complained about the Moog that it wouldn't stay in tune, but that was what he loved about it: playing the instument out of tune...
