Concert Summary

He never received the due he deserved, but blues guitarist Rory Gallagher was Ireland's answer to Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Emerging in 1969 as the leader of a blues/rock power trio Taste (they were signed by Ahmet Ertegun to Atco Records in 1968, but were overshadowed at the label by acts like Cream, Blind Faith and Led Zeppelin), the group…entire summary

Really nice hearing this live music again. Everything people say about him was correct. He was a musician first and foremost. A lot like Dylan. Lived to perform.

@ anonymous...you saw him in 2011? Was it a movie? He died in 1995!

I saw Rory Gallagher in the summer of 2011 at the Greek theater in LA.
He was part of Hippie fest ....a poorly executed tour of one time greats, Gary Wright, Dave Mason,
Mark Farner and Felix from the Young Rascals.......
Rory was great for exactly 30 minutes.....then.....next act came on....etc.
Terrible way to run a concert .......the music was alive at times that night.

I was at this concert. He rocked the joint. So did I.

    Quite simply superb!

This document of Rory Gallagher is so good it makes me cry. Please do share this with anyone open minded enough to give the man his due. Any conversation of rocking blues that does not include Rory Gallagher is simply missing a treasure. It would be like talking New York Yankees baseball without mentioning Joe DiMaggio.

I saw him on this tour in Richmond, VA. He opened up for the Doobie Brothers, believe it or not, at the Richmond Coliseum. Wow!
