Concert Summary

Irish blues guitarist Rory Gallagher was in peak form when this energetic and highly entertaining set was recorded at the legendary Bottom Line club in New York City in the fall of 1978. Gallagher had been on the European music scene for nearly a decade (and a viable name in the U.S. for almost six years) when he blew into the Big Apple for his first NY show in almost two years.

How is it that a Rock fanatic like me could've missed out on knowing Rory Gallagher's music untill I bought a re-mastered cd in 2006? ('Calling Card') He must not have been promoted much in the USA, and I've been seriously into Rock since 1978, and have listened to the radio since the early '70's. I've *never* heard a song of his played on US radio to this day, and I've lived and traveled all over this country. This recording is AWESOME! Rory was an amazing guitarist, composer, and musical interpreter. Jimmy who? Eric who? Peter Frampton said it best about Rory's playing; "...Rory was the man you'd compare yourself to..." (if you were a guitarist in the UK/Ireland in the 70's) I believe it! If Donal Gallagher, Rory's brother whom oversees his music now, sees this comment, PLEASE RELEASE THIS CONCERT ON CD!!!
