Interview Summary

This interview with Lisa Robinson was recorded in 1984, after Roger Waters had started touring the US in support of The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking. A concept album written at the same time as The Wall, it was rejected by the other Pink Floyd members for seeming too "personal." Waters used the material for his first post-Floyd solo album, featuring Eric Clapton on the studio recording and ensuing tour.

There is some discussion about what it feels like to be doing a solo tour and the visual footage being used at the shows. The two most recent "Pink Floyd" endeavors…entire summary

There's a Pros and Cons radio concert from '84, from Radio City Music Hall. Not sure if it was King Biscuit.

Roger IS Pink Floyd. Floyd without Roger has no pain, no anger, no real feeling. It's just solo Gilmour. Roger's solo work is so far beyond anything post-Roger Pink Floyd has ever achieved.

Hi there, I would like to know what is special about his accent I am French so, for me, his accent is just English :) I noticed that he pronounced "dock" instead of "dark" for instance. Is he from a particular place with a particular accent? Some artists intentionally speak with an Amercian accent to sound more "starlike" or some keep a strong English accent to be subversive (in reaction to the US accent) does he USE his accent or does he speak spontaneously. (hope i can post this message here.) Thanks

In a fine Roger Water's accent..."'Ello, my name is Wahger and I have, amongst other things, a bit o' a saliva problem...GO ON MY SON. Ohh, where was I? But actually, I feel the media are a bunch o' wankers, really, and while I'm on the subject so is Gilmour and everyone else who does not give me my comeuppance, really. Like the American actress Greta Garbow, I just want to be left alone, really, and if I could just make music here in me flat, well, that would suit me just fine, blah, blah, blah...Clapton dragged me out on tour, blah, blah, blah...I am really rich, blah, blah, blah...I hate Mondays, oh wait, I beleive Geldof said that already...'scuse me, mate, blah, blah, blah." Arrrggghhh...so, "Roger is Pink Floyd"...do say. FYI~ W/O Gilmour's soloing or Wright's improvising style...Wahger would have been what he is in his solo career...not much. Good, but not...great. So, I'll agree with one of the post here, Gilmour's solo stuff as a whole is much better then Water's.(Although Clapton on Pros and Cons is absolutely whack.) Now, excuse me...as I must be on me bike. Toodles.

Like every great band of musicians, the group as a whole was greater than its separate parts. This can be evidenced by each of the Floyd's less-than-stellar solo efforts. David Gilmour's solo recordings were, as far as I'm concerned, far better than any of Roger's. But they were never better as when the four Floyd's were as one.

Roger IS Pink Floyd (since Syd went missing). Gilmour is a great guitarist/vocalist, but a horrible songwriter on his own.
