Concert Summary

From the opening recording of "Hot Legs," Rod Stewart makes it clear that blondes indeed have more fun. At least in his case they do. Stewart was winding up a world tour for his newest LP at the time, entitled Foolish Passion in England. It is the holiday season, and Stewart was back home among his fellow Brits. It's clear that he is happy to be there when listening to this recording, done originally for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1980.

Stewart had departed from the Faces three years prior, but this show…entire summary

That was guitarist Billy Peek singing "Carol". He played all of the Chuck Berry riffs back then, and he is still rocking the clubs around St. Louis.

Who's singing Carol? That is definitely not Rod.

Beck shaking his head in disgust, gimmie a break!Jeff & Rod are teaming together for a number of Summer tour dates & in recent interviews Beck has nothing but praise & respect for his fellow band mate.Name one artist who didn't derail,at least for an album, during that awful decade the 80's.

What a sell out, Jeff Beck had to be shaking his head in disgust.

  • DukeLeopard | Thursday, March 12, 2009 | 11:28 pm

Phil Kenzie was the only horn player on stage. The guitarists were Jim Cregan, Gary Grainger, and Billy Peek. Kevin Savigar played the keyboards. The rhythm section was Carmine Appice on drums, and Phil Chen on bass. Linda Lewis lent her hypersonic backing vocals for this particular concert. Inexplicably, Rod dismantled this incredible band following the UK tour.

  • Tennoutdrsman | Thursday, March 12, 2009 | 5:37 pm

"Foolish behavior" was the albums name

Jim Cregan married a woman?!!I read where Rod said he was gay..Glad to see he's not.

funny reading the line up as Jim Cregan ended up marrying Linda Lewis that ended in a messy divorce ala Rod.saw Jim Cregan when he was guitarist in Cockney Rebel.

RS noted after "If Loving You is Wrong" that the song featured "Phil Kenzie on SAX." Maybe he had Kenzie and Magoonian trading off sax roles. Just thought I'd point that out. (That's why I get paid the big bucks.) As much as I'd like to hear RS live with Danny Johnson on guitar, this and the other concerts are great examples of a legendary vocalist in command of a great band. (But boy, could he dig a grave!)

I recorded this from the king biscuit flower hour back in 1980. one of my favorite tapes in college. Tape long gone, so happy to find it again!
