Concert Summary

Rod Stewart's 1978 Blondes Have More Fun U.K. tour included multiple nights at the Olympia Theater in London, essentially a homecoming for Rod the Mod. This show, the second of three at this prestigious venue, was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, of which portions were used on the final aired broadcast.

Stewart opens with the raucous "Hot Legs" and offers one gem after another, going through the majority of his hits up to that point. He manages to do the show without dipping into his Faces catalog, but never makes the listener feel like they're not getting a complete…entire summary

Ouch! Listening to the entire Concert Vault catalog in order, while very rewarding from a development of Rock 'n' Roll perspective, can be kind of painful when you run into someone who does the same exact show over and over and over, such as Rod Stewart's five concerts in December 1978. Mix it up a little, Rod, you automaton. If you have heard one, you have pretty much heard them all. If not for my OCD'ish characteristics, I could have skipped four of them.

Great Concert, wish I was there. But I was sitting outside the Honolulu International Center,(H.I.C.) concert hall for that year's tour. We heard it, but could'nt see it. Tried to sneak in and was caught by the guards. Anyway, it does bring back some fine memories. Sort of...Thanks and Aloha Keoni Cameron

I remember first hearing HOT LEGS when I was about 14 from seeing ROD doing it on a tv. I thought what a great rock n roll song. Foot loose is great album. I need to go back and rediscover those Stewart/Faces albums again.

This is the band Rod had wanted since leaving the Faces. The core had been together now a few years and the tightness shows through. Rod is in fine form here and is apparent to show he is no longer a "Face". Rounchy yet clean is the sound Rod wanted form a band and thats what he has with this backing band. Unfortunately we would all realise later what a great band that played "boozy rock & roll" the Faces really were, never to be equaled again. Hope reunion plans for the Faces come true. In the meantime this concert is probably "Rod the Mod's" best as a solo artist. I had this recorded back in the seventies and somehow lost it. Great to hear it again.
