Concert Summary

Everything you ever wanted to believe about rock 'n' roll is true, and here's proof: five of the scrawniest, scraggliest moppets in all the kingdom scraped themselves up off the pub floor, climbed on stage and created magic.

In the wake of calamitous label mismanagement that left one of the most important bands of the mod/psychedelic movement creatively hog-tied and practically bankrupt, Small Faces singer/guitarist Steve Marriott jumped ship to form Humble Pie with Peterentire summary

It was a shame that by this time it had become nothing more than 'The Rod Stewart Show', that Ronnie Lane had already quit and that the great Ron Wood was about to join the Stones to become nothing more than a lame sideman in a lesser band. I remember feeling absolutely gutted when they split and in my opinion Rod Stewart just became more and more pathetic after he broke up the world's greatest rock band. Still, I enjoyed this concert and thanks for posting. Long live The Faces!

Mick Jagger was once asked what
    his favorite rock group was
aside from the Stones. His answer
    was The FACES.

    He wound up eventually getting
    Ronnie Wood years later.

This live version of I Can Feel The Fire is actually on the "Five Guys Walk Into A Bar...". Awesome gig!

Almost 100% of what's been said here is spot on. The Faces were really outstanding and I'm disappointed to see that rod can't manage to break away for a few weeks to sing while the remaining lads play. Regarding more Faces shows, go to some of the torrenting sites (Dime, Trader's Den, etc.) to get other shows, such as the Fillmore concert addressed here.

The best Faces live recording is a bootleg recorded at the Fillmore West in 1971. I was hoping Wolfgang would have it in the vault. Anyway, the Faces were truly at their best when Ronnie Lane stomped around. They lost a lot of their "drunken charm" when this talented musician left the lads. Still as a long time listener of the the boys, this recording doesn't quite rival their BBC recordings; however, one of best with Tesu...far superior to the Anaheim recordings "Coast to Coast".

This is great stuff. The FAces Box set is also great. It amazes me how great Ron Wood is with this band and how lame he is with the Stones. Maybe its the difference between 1 vs. 2 guitars? dunno, but it is striking.

regardless - enjoy. & yes the final show on dvd with Keef rocks!
