Concert Summary

Poor Ronnie Lane... We hardly knew ye! Such a gentle soul couldn't compete with the swaggering machismo and blonde poodle-shag of Britain's third-most-famous failed footballer.

Had Rod Stewart been more egalitarian, the Faces may have stuck together and been remembered as the best rock 'n' roll band of the 1970s, certainly more consistent than the Stones of this period and featuring not just two but five outstanding musical personalities, all contributing to the creative…entire summary

PS re Tetsu - Listen at 4:26 on "Stay With Me." That ain't ordinary; I want more of it!

Mourning the loss of Ronnie Lane makes a lot of sense, but Tetsu was actually a superb bassist, if you've got the patience to listen to all his creative ideas. Before joining Faces he was in Free (and had put out a remarkable album with its guitarist Kossoff and "Rabbit" Bundrick), and he's still active today - albeit playing mostly jazz, where that kind of streaming creativity is better appreciated.

The Faces sound good here - and there's certainly no weakness on the bass end!

And another thing.... what the fuck happened to Ronnie Wood after The Faces? I know he joined The Stones, but why? He lost all my respect when he did that, he went from being a superb guitarist to being a nothing, and when Rod Stewart went solo, he just became more and more pathetic as the years went by..... it's all such a tragedy. Thankfully there are still some Faces recordings out there!

I used to have this LP. I was as avid a Faces fan as was possible at the age of 14 in England in 1973 , but I always felt a little disappointed with this album because Ronnie Lane wasn't on it, and I could feel the demise of the world's greatest rock band looming. The demise of The Faces has always been one of the major disappointments of my life. It's great to hear it again though and thanks for sharing!

I'm a Faces fanatic and while this show is damn good, I've heard much better from the the boys. I sure do wish Wolf would post some Ronnie Lane era shows.

Waxing nostalgic, it's 1971, I am in high school and the Faces are the band I love at the time. Somehow they get booked into the Forum in Los Angeles, there are 3000 or 4000 people in this arena that holds 18,500....Rod calls us all down onto the floor and a real good time follows. What a band live, raucous drunk and rowdy, this show is such a reminder.

The Faces played in the gym at my college in '71 with Savoy Brown and the Grease Band opening. What a show! This brings back memories...

Nobody Partied Like The Faces,They Truly Knew How To Have A Good Time.. The Faces Were Not Hit Makers But It Did'nt Matter,At Least We Know They Were Not Lip-Singers Faking The Show.I Was Just A Kid So I Never Saw Them Live.I Wish I Could Have.. Amos Roger.
