Damn Trower was good. Dewar was one of a kind. You either their vibe, or you don't. Sometimes I try to keep still and see how long I can go before my head to starts swaying from side to side. Seems to only take about 2-3 seconds before I capitulate. I was not 15 when I saw Trower, and I don't think he sounds like Hendrix. He sounds like Robin Trower. The Trower/Dewar/Isidore or Lordan trio is sorely missed by this fervent admirer. Great show here, by the way - Confessin' Midnight sure does get the blood flowing in this old guy's veins...

This is an incredible performance by the Robin Trower trio. Robin's guitar solo on "I Can't Wait Much Longer" is especially powerful. This was one of the great power trios of all time... Along with Hendrix Experience, Band Of Gypsys and Cream! AWESOME!

I saw this tour 12 days later in Columbus, Ohio (March 27, 1975) at Vets Memorial. The band got a standing ovation before they played a single note! It was an amazing show and it is thrilling to see this video from Winterland, with most of the same songs I saw that night. James Dewar's vocals were mesmerizing and were a perfect complement to Robin's absolutely stunning guitar work. "Bridge of Sighs"...my God, does it get any better than that?!? Thank you very much for posting this, Wolfgang's Vault!

I remember when I saw him in 75 how stunned and moved I was by the song Daydream. I had never heard it before, and it was incredible. By the way, Sammy Hagar opened for him at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium show I saw. Sammy had recently left Montrose.

I am always amazed at the comments for videos like this, either on here or UTube or wherever. A lot of people comment about the looks of the artist (lips, mouth, nose, clothes, etc) obviously unable to see or hear the essence or appreciate the musicianship or the musician. While others say it's not very "humable" or the worst of all comments that Bridge of Sighs is not a masterpiece??? Go watch MTV videos if you cannot appreciate RT, don't waste time here writing comments saying RT is not good; it only shows your lack of musical acumen. RT has survived the test of time and one of the only true artists that has continually recorded and toured all these years and stayed true to his craft and his blues-based style. Guitar-player driven music is rare now in the age of oversaturated, overcompressed, auto-tuned pop crap coming from most other pop artists of the day. Yes James Dewar was an incredible voice, along with Paul Rodgers, But Davey Pattison from Ronnie Montrose's Gamma stepped-in and did a damn good job on vocals covering James' parts and recording many songs with Robin. I've seen RT several times with Davey singing, it's amazing! Let's appreciate the fact we have not only Robin's music etched into permanent history but great videos like this one as well thanks to Bill Graham and Wolfgang's Vault! Love you guys!!!!!

I was there for this show too! Journey was the warmup act for Trower. Great concert. Trower's band was much louder than Journey, but very clean. Journey was playing new material from the Look into the Future album. Midnight Lover blew me away. That was the first time I'd heard it. I was there was Journey footage from that show. Hey Trower was great too. RIP Jim Marshall!

I saw Robin Tower several times back in the early 1970s in Detroit, Michigan. What a fantastic concert he'd put on. Those were the good old days full of rock and roll.

Great stuff. I wasn't too much into R.T.s band because i think i didn't like the "drummin" just like in most of the british bands. Would have loved to see R. Trower with a drummer like the late Richie Hayward. And let's not forget J. Dewar, great voice AND great bass.

Robin Trower was one of the first concerts i ever went too. I believe he opened for Black Oak Arkansas in 1974 in Omaha, Ne. Was totally blown away as I had never seen or heard of them before! Back then I was about 14! Been a huge trower fan since and have seen him couple times since. I believe Paul Rodgers of Bad Co. was singing for him back in the early 90's. Good but no comparison to James Dewar! Thanks for posting!

What a great show this was. With the real ,original, pre pop Journey playing before RT. This show was played on the screen at every Winterland concert for the next few years. This was one of my favorite concerts all time. We got there around noon, partied all day and took our usual front row left corner balcony seats. Oh and the Acid was especially good that night! I just found out about Wolfgangs vault having these tapes from the Bill Graham estate. I am looking forward to seeing more of the Winterland shows. Winterland was dump but it was the best concert venue I ever went to. If you were a popular rock act on tour than you played SF and you played at winterland on one of your tours. And they taped everyone of those shows.

What a fantastic site. What's so cool is that I was at this show in Winterland. I stood about 10 feet from a wall of speakers, stage right. Trower was so loud. Good times.

Who is this "MORON" guitarbike5??? You BIG idiot - James Dewar died 16 May 2002 of a stroke At Dykebar Hospital in Paisley, Scotland, after years of disability reportedly resulting from a medical error which damaged his brain in 1987. His funeral was held at Paisley's Woodside Crematorium. Please have a momoment of silence for James - May he rest in peace - GOD BLESS!!!

I've been a huge Trower fan since the first time I heard "Trower Live" in the living room of the house I was renting in Chico, CA with 5 other guys. I've seen him twice in concert and he gets better each time. BTW, Jim Dewar is back playing with him again. There's another guy playing bass, so Jim Dewar just sings. Don't miss Trower!!

This was the first concert I ever went to. Pablo Cruise, Journey, and Robin Trower. A guy on the street approached us with this sales pitch..."Bitches, coke, mescalin, weed..." Quite the salesman. Winterland was awesome.

Bridge of Sighs - Seems we were all 15 years old when we got whiff of this guy. RT just magical and Dewar's vocals - a perfect blend. Saw this footage and couldn't believe it. The guitar licks are incredible and one of the reasons I still play today. One of the most underrated bands of all time.......

Great stuff! But I would kill to see a video of this quality from Trower's Procol Harum days playing a song like Whaling Stories or Piggy, Pig Pig. His playing and solos on those PH tunes are just incredible.

I still can't think of a better rock-blues vocalist than Dewar. Trower's playing speaks for itself.

I'm with Ila, how can anybody not get this? Jimmy Dewar is one fabulous singer, the material is unforgettable, and Trower is undeniably one of the greats....and please can we move on from the Hendrix comparisons....i'm sure most of the people who fall back on this chestnut have never listened to Hendrix either. Just great to be able to see gems like this on the web.

I've seen Trower about 20 times, every show a stunner. Bridge of Sighs is why I learned to play guitar in 1974. Thanks Robin!

Every guitar player is influenced by someone. Trower is influenced by God. If you haven't seen him, you haven't seen. I take special liberties with these comments, he was my first shed show, at age 15, I've never been the same thanks to him. And yeah, Dewar and Lordan are lock-step Agents of Sound.

No doubt, Robin is a very inspiring guitarist obviously influenced by Hendrix. The tone and playing here are really awesome. But what about James Dewar? This guy is a great, great blues-rock singer who is buried in time. Does anybody remember this guy? He deserves better.

Is it me or does RT seem to have the same profile and features as SRV in these videos? His nose for sure is almost exactly like Stevie's. Lovely to see this band at their best.

I had the good fortune to see RT @ Madison Square Garden in '76 when I was 15. Great seats right in front of Robin. Life changing. But I don't go to see him now. Was too big a fan of Jimmy Dewar's vocals. No one since comes close.

I saw Robin Trower with Poco at the Winterland in summer 73 and I can't really remember being very impressed. Excellent guitar player for sure (I really liked Procol Harum's early albums) but technique alone is not enough. Unlike other great guitar solos I can't hum his tunes, let alone remember them. Even Bridge of Sighs, one of his best albums, is far from being a masterpiece. That's maybe the difference between a song writer and musician and only a musician. Form is good but it needs content; lines are good but they need colors.

I lived in SSF was a JR at El Camino H.S. me & my cuz drove my 66 Ford van, got there about 2pm & got in line, about 3pm I walked up to the front door and opened it like I owned it and walked straight in to the hall Trower was doin his soundcheck and I stood at the edge of the stage and watched them play 3 songs, I was the only 1 in there. when he stopped I started to go backstage and ran into Gregg Rolie, Journey opened the show, he looked at me for a second and...called security. So I got back in line. Best Winterland concert ever!

we played all the Robin Trower songs for 2 years which was very enjoyable but sadly enough nobody would listen. Now we play our own songs from the 70ties: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1IH1FnrSBA and i'm still addicted to the vault

So true "Anonymous"! I was/am a huge Trower fan from first listening of Twice Removed From Yesterday on the day it was released. Caught the original trio at the Whiskey and Hollywood Paladium back in the day and several years ago in Ventura and more recently at the Canyon Club outside of L.A. His first two LPs are eternally branded in my being. Long live TROWER; a true Guitar God!

Some years ago I got a vhs tape by Robin on how to play his stuff. He opens by explaining that he tunes down a whole note to D and has the frets on his guitar raised to help give the vibrato effect. I was so shocked, I got no further than that. His Hendrixy sound is so cool.

One of Trower's best riffs, just iconic. Dewar just nails the vocal. Gawd, just kills me I didn't go to this show. would have been 15, but I'm sure my bro could have been talked into going. Oh well, we got this great to remember.

What's cool is that the songs you're watching Robin play are still "New" releases at this time. In 36 years of watching and listening these songs, they never get "Old".
