Concert Summary

After performing for several years in various blues, soul, and jazz bands, in 1970 Robert Palmer joined the jazz-rock outfit Dada, where he first worked alongside singer Elkie Brooks. The band lasted barely a year, after which Palmer and Brooks teamed up to form the British rhythm and blues band, Vinegar Joe. Palmer shared lead vocal duties with Brooks, as well as played guitar, releasing three critically acclaimed (but commercially unsuccessful) albums for Island Records…entire summary

To Wolf and Hey now... I'm belgian but i was at this Central Park Show where Muddy Waters opened for Bonnie Raitt.
If my memory serves me well David Bromberg joined the band and even Elton John went on a piano performance with Muddy's band. Am'i right or did rock and roll really affect my brain?

Sad...I saw Vinegar Joe in the 70's and Little Feat so many times... but never had the chance to see him life way back then..... before he turned on to some more 80's stuff.... anyway the show is good.... music that makes you feel good baby.

Wow, I went to this show! I went to college at Central CT State, about 15 minutes away. If memory serves me correct, he opened for Taj Mahal (or it might have been Ry Cooder. I'm usually very good at remembering...), and Palmer, for me, stole the show. The concert was in like the cafeteria or Student Union, and we were supposed to sit on the floor, which was impossible during the Robert Palmer part. He was great back then, and his first couple of albums were basically Robert Palmer and Little Feat, a winning combination as someone said! I had tickets the previous summer to see him open for Santana at the Central Park summer concerts, and unfortunately, they both canceled and were somehow replaced with The AWB, which was way below average, IMO.

Those Central Park shows were great, I once saw Muddy Waters open for Bonnie Raitt! Tickets back then were $3.00 for the good seats, and $1.50 for the bleachers (in the 4,000 seat skating rink)!

    Thanks, Wolf!

That Robert was onto something back then, wasn't he? Talk about a winning formula.
