What can you really say about a single concert that successfully features "The Glamorous Life" and "Lucky Man," "The Logical Song" and "The No-No Song," "All The Young Dudes" and "No One Is To Blame"? Well, you can say this - thanks Ringo Starr, Sheila E., Greg Lake, Ian Hunter, Roger Hodgson, Howard Jones and Mark Rivera for a night of great music and fab fun.

I FIRST MET RINGO SOMETIME IN THE LATE 1990'S IN LONG BEACH, CA. HE WAS ATTENDING A COLLETIBLES CONVENTION IN TOWN. MY FRIEND ELIZABETH AND I WERE LOOKING AT PIECES TO PURCHASE, WHEN WE WENT AROUND A CORNER AND FOUND RINGO WITH A COUPLE OF OTHER FELLOWS. IT SEEMS RINGO HAD MADE A BUSINESS DEAL WITH ONE OF THE DISTRIBUTERS TO "MEET & GREET" ANYONE WHO WOULD PURCHASE A PARTICULAR ITEM. BECAUSE THIS "PARTICULAR ITEM" WAS PRICED WAY BEYOND MY BUDGET, AND FOR LACK OF FUNDS, I WAS NOT ABLE TO SAY "HI" OR ANYTHING. RINGO, ELIZABETH, THE VENDOR, AND I STOOD LOOKING AT EACH OTHER FOR A GOOD TWO-TO-TEN MINUTES. FINALLY, I LEFT. RINGO AND I HAD MADE EYE CONTACT, BUT I COULD ONLY SEE AWKWARD EMBARRESSMENT, SOME PAIN, AND REGRET. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY TO OPEN OUR MOUTHS TO SAY SOMETHING TO RINGO, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AT HIS EXPENSE... FOR US IT WAS A MEMORABLE MEETING; TO BE SO FORTUNATE TO MEET A MUSIC ICON OF SUCH STATURE AS RINGO STARR (WORDS OR NO WORDS). SINCE THEN, MR. STARR HAS MOVED ON TO BETTER AND GREATER THINGS. RINGO MET HIS "NO WHERE... MAN".

Great concert! Thanks Ringo for your work.

I saw the first All-Starr tour on August 5, 1989, at the Garden State Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ. The line-up included Dr. John, Levon Helm, Nils Lofgren, Billy Preston, Clarence Clemons, Rick Danko, Joe Walsh, and Zak Starkey.

Before the encore, John Candy came out on staged and jokingly announced, “Please welcome Menudo!” The All-Starrs came back out, Clemons beckoned the crowd to come closer, filling the aisles, and Bruce Springsteen came out to join them. With Candy on tambourine, they finished the concert with Photograph, Get Back, and With A Little Help From My Friends.
