Concert Summary

Enamored by the folk-rock hybrid being forged by the Byrds, Bob Dylan, and others to follow in the mid-1960s, singer-songwriter Rick Roberts began honing his chops in small clubs during his teenage years, before hitchhiking to California in 1969. Landing in Los Angeles, Roberts began making his way performing on the club scene, becoming friends with many of the aspiring Laurel Canyon songwriters and musicians that would become the epicenter of the American music industry by the mid-1970s.

It was at one of these club performances that Roberts crossed paths with Flying Burrito…entire summary

Unfortunately, Rick doesnt and cant perform anymore...his voice is shot from abuse he did to himself over the yrs....he did attend a Firefall concert they have on a cd called Reunion concert(from Colorado). Good still, even with a different lead singer. He still sounded good in place of Rick. Check it out!

firefall was "tight" in the mid 70's saw them open for the marshall tuck band- great show why don't they get back together and hit the fair-casino circuit.

Think Rickis a great song writer, both with Buritto?s and and with Firefall, and he?s sadly only 2 solo albums, saw him in Copenhagen with buritto, shit that Chris was not a part of the band, saw him later i Copenhagen with Manassas, great show. I miss Rick?s brilliant songwriting, so sad if he is realy ill, he has a voice as god and as clear as Crosby

It Doesnt Matter is not a cover but is Roberts' own song written with Hillman while in the Burritos. Hillman says in the Hot Burritos book that Stills heard the song, changed some lyrics and used it for Manassas. Hillman: 'Rick's name should have been on the credits but was accidentally left off'. Great show, and great sound quality! Rick's a great songwriter and singer, pity he didnt do much after Firefall. Yeah, if possible he should start performing again! Great JD Souther cover as well!

Even without a backing group, the songs still hold up and sound great.
