Concert Summary

There have been quite a few high profile events to commemorate the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival, but one of the most interesting occurred when many of the original musicians converged in Long Island's Parr Meadows in Brookhaven, NY to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Unlike later events, this was a true 10-year reunion for many of the musicians who played the 1969 festival. Among others, the audience heard performances by the likes of Richie Havens, John Sebastian, Stephen Stills, Leslie West, Jorma Kaukonen, Johnny Winter, Canned Heat, and the Rick Danko/Paul Butterfield Band. They were a really great band that flew under the radar. I saw them around this time or maybe the next year at the Union Bar in Minneapolis. Too bad there isn't more material out there from them, but I was glad to hear this stuff again after all these years.

I played my East/West album to death as also my Before the Flood album. What a treat to hear these two great talents together. I don't doubt that they had some bad shows over the years and PB could have been a jerk at times-who hasn't been one?? While this show is a prime example of good musicians rising to the occasion ('Woodstock Reunion"), their early work will remain some of my favorite tunes. Thanks for this great show, may they be remembered as the giants they were! RIP

Rick and "Butter" now that was a pair!!!I can't tell you how many times I partied with these fools!! Throw in Blondie (Gary Busy was around then) and make sure you have bail money when you went with them. Rick was one of the nice guys. Butter was 90% of the time an asshole and don't give him the blow, you won't get ANY back, EVER!!! It was hit and miss when they played. Ohhhhh the good old days, I miss Rick and his humor, same with Blondie

Their Minneapolis gig on this tour was also a drag.

This is to hal2222: I saw them in a small club in Ft Lauderdale, and had the same experience you did. They were going through the motions, and were practically booed off the stage.

The "rare unreleased" Dylan song Love You Too Much can be found on Greg Lake's debut solo album from 1981 and on the KBFH from that tour.
