Concert Summary

Rainbow was formed in 1975 when Ritchie Blackmore got tired of Deep Purple's in-fighting, and he decided to quit the band to start a new project from scratch. Rainbow became more radio friendly and pop oriented than Purple would ever be, and that success kept Rainbow going for the better part of a decade.

Recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1981 shortly after they had sacked singer Graham Bonnet, what is included here is a set of pop-metal songs that are all anchored around Blackmore's over-the-top lead…entire summary

Blackmore is in fine form in this show with the early JLT lineup. Ritchie always seemed to give his best performances during transitional phases of his career.

What I would give to be able to purchase the "Love's No Friend" for my collection. A true rarity.

Only a few guitarists in ALL music when you hear and or watch them leave you in awe. Ritchie Blackmore makes me just sit and go WOW! every time! To me every Rainbow recording is special and being a musician it's a learning experience every time you listen to a song. Ranbow with Dio is TRUE Rainbow.... Catch a Rainbow performed here is so sweet and so soothing to the ear BUT when Ronnie does it, you go on a journey... A reunion will happen. It's just a matter of time. Ian Gillan said in an interview one of the disagreements he had was Ritchie was that Ritchie would say no offense but I blow Clapton awayHe is the only musician that can look into guitarist that can

This sounds pretty good but my favorite Rainbow is by far the DIO years. But if you want to sell a billion records then you need JLT. Either way it's good but the DIO era does it for me.

I've been looking for this recording for years. I recorded it to an 8-track tape the night of the original broadcast (it was all I had at the time). I tried securing a copy from KB in the past but they were not willing/able to sell me a copy.
