Poster Art Q & A

Description

MacLean's artwork captures the monikers of the performers: a modern-day Messenger streaks over the Grass Roots growing along the banks of a fast-flowing Mad River.

The three variants of the postcard were printed before the concert. Each measures 4 1/2" x 7".

1st printing A postcard reveals a flying creature with the same color face and body.

1st printing B shows the creature's entire face is lighter than the body.

1st printing C shows the upper portion of the face matches the body and the bottom part of the face is lighter than the body.

There were also some pre-concert double-sized mailers printed that were conjoined with the BG088 image. There is some inconsistency in the color of the creature's face on the BG087 side of these cards. They measure 4 1/2" x 14".

Promoters often created postcard versions of many of their concert posters and used them as promotional mailings. The postcards in Wolfgang's Vault are unique, small-format pieces of art that make a fascinating addition to any collection.
