Eccentric, post-punk, avant rock Primus stormed 1989 with its debut album, "Suck on This." With Les Claypool on bass, Larry LaLonde on guitar and Tim "Herb" Alexander at the drums, the group soon developed a cult following for its vehemently anti-commercial music, masterfully played. The 1993 "Pork Soda" catapulted Primus into a headlining spot on the Lollapalooza tour, followed by heavy MTV exposure and a Grammy nomination for the 1995 release, "Wynona's Big Beaver." By 2000, the group disbanded. Replacement drummer Brian Mantia joined Guns N' Roses and Claypool, Phish frontman Trey Anastasio and former Police drummer Stewart Copeland formed the group Oysterhead....less
