Playlist Description
This playlist compiles all of the Pink Floyd-related audio material in the Concert Vault. It starts at the Fillmore West in 1970, where a small, quiet crowd soaked in the music played during Floyd's third American tour which featured material from the recently released "Ummagumma" and the soon-to-be-released "Atom Heart Mother" albums.
We then move on to the Oakland Coliseum Arena in May of 1977, where Bill Graham's partial soundboard recording captured that evening's second set in its entirety (a performance of the "Wish You Were Here" album), along with one track from "Animals" and parts of the encore, featuring songs sourced from "Dark Side of the Moon."
Next, fast-forward to the Royal Albert Hall in 1986, where David Gilmour performed as part of the Colombian Volcano Disaster Appeal Concert. With a fantastic band that included Rabbit Bundrick and Mick Ralphs, this rare solo appearance contained two songs from Gilmour's "About Face" album and two classics from "The Wall."
Wrapping up the musical portion of this Concert Vault tour, we head to 1985 to hear Gilmour once again, this time playing with Pete Townshend and the Deep End band. For "Love on the Air" and "Blue Light," both from his "About Face" album, Gilmour took on lead vocal duties.
Finally, we've included three interviews that provide some compelling insight into the personality clashes that were present behind the scenes. First is a conversation with David Gilmour in 1978 recorded in support of his self-titled debut solo album. Next, Roger Waters chats with Lisa Robinson in 1984 while on tour for his own debut solo album, "The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking" (originally formulated at the same time as "The Wall"). Lastly, we catch up with Gilmour once again, this time while on tour in support of "About Face."
