Joni Mitchell has the right song for every mood. From the perfect top-down-on-a-Sunday-afternoon number to a cry-yourself-to-sleep song, Mitchell's music and her comforting vocals have been enjoyed by many over many years. Mitchell is probably one of folk/rock's most influential female artists of the 20th century, and her independence, technical expertise and ability to put both sorrow and joy to music characterize her timeless songwriting.
Though there are no complete Joni Mitchell concerts in the Wolfgang’s Vault Archives, she does pop up quite a bit if you know where to look...but now you needn’t look any further than this playlist. Tune in to hear her playing solo at the 1969 Newport Folk Festival, dancing with the Band at their Last Waltz, harmonizing with CSNY, and getting a showcase during a Rolling Thunder Revue show. There are also covers of Mitchell’s songs and, just for fun, a recording of Dr. John singing “Happy Birthday” to Joni while she was in the crowd at one of his shows.
