Playlist Description
We're joining Deadheads all over the world in celebrating Jerry Garcia week, between August 1st (his birthday) and August 9th (the anniversary of his death). Follow Jerry through his long, strange trip with some excellent examples of Jerry's playing, singing and songwriting through the years.
Probably more than anyone else on the site, Jerry has received beautiful and grateful comments from our listeners so, instead of rambling on about him, here are some of your sentiments:

-Over the years I saw Jerry and the boys from coast to coast. I traveled days without sleep to strange lands to enter unknown buildings and when the lights would dim and the first chords were played I would look around and be home. Thank you Jerry. You made me a better person.

-This is from one of my favorite Jerry eras. Sweet as can be. I miss him. I miss how he used to get inside my brain and make me cry, laugh, and reflect. How we danced.

-he was a truly fine human, intelligent, psychedelized in a beautiful way. warm and endearing, awareness of his place and the bands in their fans lives. I will always love him. It's just one of those things.....he generated love and happiness and an indescribable essence of a life experience that gives him that wonderment. I feel priviledged to have seen him the many times i have. he was lovely. I miss him.
