Playlist Summary

The Beatles were good. Really good. Their musical and cultural influence is immeasurable, and to think that it all happened through 12 albums in only 7 years is...well, it's Beatles-esque.…entire summary

Please don't forget Kenny Rankin. His recording of "Blackbird" (my favorite) impressed Paul McCartney so much that he asked Kenny to sing it when the Beatles were inaugurated into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His recording of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is heart wrenching. He also sang "Penny Lane" and "With A Little Help from My Friends." Kenny died June 7, 2009. RIP Kenny.

wow i never thought id praise the hooters either, but its decent.Of course Id prefer Eltons version, just as Asmith & U2 have done superior versions of "Helter Skelter"

Very decent cover by The Hooters (words I can't believe I'm typing BTW) and Benatar does indeed rock Helter Skelter. While one of my favorite song covers Jealous Guy is not technically a Beatles song. All in all I liked everything except for Bramlin's version of I've Just Seen A Face, just not good.

The Rubinoos!!!They did bubblegum opening for Elvis COstello. Took real balls to play what they did and when they did. Way underrated

Journey (original Gregg Rolie edition) and Roxy Music are equally superb.

I've always loved Richie Havens and his simplistic high-energy "Here comes the sun" is "fab". Jeff Beck's "She's a woman" predictably wordless not a patch on his "Day in a life", not here probably because of copyright. Pat Benatar rocks the bollocks off of "Helter Skelter" (the original being the first punk record ever, in my view) and The Hooters takes "Lucy" to "The Battle of Evermore" (Led Zep). But where's Steve Hillage's "Northern Song"? Some interesting stuff but it really should be a major project to collect the best of the (live) Beatles covers and market it.
