Concert Summary

Among the Grateful Dead spin-off projects, when it comes to capturing the original improvisatory spirit on which the original band made its name, it's Phil Lesh & Friends who consistently come closest to living on the edge of the dream. The air of excitement that made every Dead show a unique experience lives and breathes onstage with Lesh, who thoroughly embraces and understands the freeform esthetic. He and his ever-evolving cast of characters have maintained a level of excellence that few other jam bands can lay claim to and have proven themselves masters of the exploratory jams that…entire summary

this is as close to outer space as any of us will get...thanks WGV peeps! I couldn't believe how slow and spacily disapated they could become, and then reform like a real amoeba.
my hat is off to this one off band!

    Holy FUCK,
Just finished the rest of this concert. This might be the best concert I have ever heard. Long time Mt Jammer and love the Mule, but this group and event was unbelievable. How can I possibly by this set. Died and gone to heaven, want soul shine played at my funeral.

    Wow,
If you have something to say negative about this set you don't get the road these people are on. THis concert is right up there with so many Dead shows, except with giving room to other artists to experiment besides Jerry. I love Jerry and hav many of his shows besides the dead stuff, but most folks miss the boat and do not understand just how big a role the others in the band played. Jerry did his thing which was great, but the platform the rest of the group gave him was so undereated.
Love it all, especially this show.
    WOW

Great Sounding Recording. Phil plays beautifully. Warren also sounds great in the mix. I wish Kimock was turned up a little more, but you can hear his tasteful contributions on many of the songs. I wonder who did the mix for this show, maybe "Wiz"

Wow! From "the day the music died" nothing has come close to filling the void the way P&F does it!!! I just saw Furthur a few days ago @ Radio City, and was fortunate enough to be blessed with a first set that included Elvis Costello and Larry Campbell, and a second set which thankfully was comandeered by Phil (St. Stephen,Eleven,Days Between,etc.). This show is an early testimony that since the Dead became dead only Phil has been able to phil the void in hearts. Who else would play Alligator, Days Between, Midnight Hour, and Mountains of the Moon all in one set? Keep rocking Phil!! Thanks to Wolfgang for giving us this gem!! Rolling Stone>Midnight Hour is worth a listen.......or ten! Enjoy!
