Concert Summary

To listen to an interview with Peter Tosh during the late 1970s, one would think it was him--not Bob Marley--who took reggae music from Jamaica and brought it to the world in a form that everyone could embrace. In truth, it was neither of these two legendary Rastafarian musicians, but instead record producer and label owner Chris Blackwell. Blackwell had discovered and signed The Wailers,…entire summary

Thanks to uncle BOBO! The inovator of putting on live shows and smart enough to store em all. Best part if you met bill at a show youd never expecpt he was bill graham running around sometimes never even checking into his room. But bitchin and yelling to make sure there was a great show. Then going around giving out tickets to people who did not get in. Thanks BOBO for all the great things you did for others. Sincerly Smiley Dave (BOBO A NAME GIVEN BY DEADHEADS). New years has not been the same with him sliding in from the cieling or parades in the Oakland coliseum or the Kaiser thanks Bill it was a blast and i'll spend new years at his stadium this year wahoooooooooooooooooo

I, Joe Carone, recorded this on my new tape live from WHFS radio in Bethesda Maryland at my friend Chicos house along with my friend Mike Connell. It is without a doubt the most soul filled reggae I have ever heard..... ever! Very Moving! I thought I was the only person that possessed this music. I am so happy to find it here and hope I can record it again someday.

The lead guitarist on this recording is Ed Elizalde. Ed was originally from the San Francisco bay area, he got involved with Inner Circle and Jacob Miller in 1977, then played guitar for Tosh on the '79 tour. You can see Ed playing a gold-top Les Paul & a Marshall half-stack with Jacob Miler in the movie "Reggae Heartland". Ed later returned home and played guitar for local reggae band The Yardies until three years ago.

I HAVE A FEELING THE DATE OF THIS GIG IS INCORRECT AS THE LEAD GUITAR PLAYER LEFT TOSH AT THE END OF THE STONES TOUR, AFTER THE LAST GIG JULY 26,1978. TOSH DID ONE MORE GIG IN THE CITY A FEW DAYS LATER AT THE NORMAL BENEFIT AT THE WALDORF, OPENING FOR JOURNEYS DEBUT GIG WITH STEVE PERRY. DONALD KINSEY WAS ALSO THE FORMER LEAD GUITAR PLAYER FOR BOB MARLEY ON TWO WORLD TOURS AND THREE ALBUMS INCL RASTAMAN VIBRATIONS. AS TOSH'S LEAD GUITAR PLAYER HE PLAYS ON LEGALIZE IT, BUSH DOCTOR, MAMA AFRICA. DONALD KINSEY WAS IN BOB MARLEYS HOUSE WHEN THE INFAMOUS ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON BOB TOOK PLACE TO PREVENT HIM FROM APPEARING AT REGGAE SUNSPLASH IN JAMAICA. BOB WAS SHOT FIVE TIMES AND STILL PERFORMED ON STAGE THE NEXT DAY DESPITE HIS WOUNDS. KINSEY WAS ALSO SHOT ONCE IN THE ARM. DONALD KINSEY AND AL ANDERSON, BOTH BRILLIANT GUITAR PLAYERS WERE THE INTERCHANGABLE LEAD GUITAR PLAYERS BETWEEN BOB MARLEY'S AND PETER TOSH'S BANDS FOR A DECADE DEPENDING ON WHO WAS ON TOUR. BEFORE THAT HE WAS ALBERT KINGS GUITAR PLAYER. THE LEAD GUITAR PLAYER LEFT TOSH TO FORM HIS SOLO EFFORT, "DONALD KINSEY AND THE CHOSEN ONES". THEY LIVED IN PETALUMA AND PLAYED NUMEROUS GIGS IN THE BAY AREA UNTIL MOVING BACK TO GARY INDIANA AND REFORMING AS THE KINSEY REPORT AND RELEASING SEVERAL ALBUMS ON ALLIGATOR RECORDS.
