It was a real treat for those who attended this 1988 Prince's Trust show to see Peter Gabriel performing once again with his former Genesis band mate, Phil Collins, on this version of "Sledgehammer." The song had been released 18 months prior and had been at the top of the MTV and radio charts, spearheaded with possibly one of the best music videos ever produced.

Gabriel does a spirited version, which the crowd eats up. Gabriel is one of the few artists whose music is both heady and danceable, and this song certainly got the crowd moving and out of their seats. How the Prince and…entire summary

    I used to listen to this program when I worked at the album-rock station in West Virginia. I never imagined this was a part of history. The program ran for years on the venerable WNEW-FM (102.7, where rock lives) back when Metromedia was known for something other than cell phone service.

    Collins & PG eating Sledgehammer for breakfast. Shed my skin. Excellent....but you know, I'd love to see Genesis get back together with PG and do some sort of new creation, perhaps of a rock opera based on Bush's criminal presidency/war profiteering successes? Hell, I'd settle for a longer than 4 min. tune with half a thought in it...

    Since Gabriel says, "Mr. David Rhoades on guitar" at the end shouldn't his name be included in the band personnel list, at least for this number?
