Concert Summary

Originally broadcast on KSAN-FM's Live From The Record Plant concert series, this show, while technically and sonically far better than many live concert broadcasts, sounds more like a studio album cut in one take than a live recording. It was recorded in the pristine surroundings of San Francisco's world class Record Plant recording studio without the benefit of any studio audience. Although it sounds immaculate, there is no live audience for Peter Frampton to feed off of. Hence, while it is more sterile sounding than most other…entire summary

Well the chronology here makes it sound like Something's Happening was followed by "Comes Alive" but really there was a 4th studio lp called "Frampton" which had Baby I Love your Way and Show Me The Way, two of the big hits off of the live album. It was a very strong set of songs the set the stage for what happened next!

Saw these guys in San Diego in '75, the line up was Frampton, Aerosmith and ZZTOP. I think ;0)

I was at the Winterland show....the firecrackers went off during the song Wind of change right below us in the balcony...thats how I knew I was there when it was recorded for the Live album....Oh what a nite!...I miss Winterland!

Bill Graham knew that this was gold when he heard this live performance
it is so tight that it just lends itself to a prime recording of
shear magic and rock and roll glory. this is pure rock and roll
rhythm and boogie that has yet to be surpassed by any other recording
artist live simply perfect in every possible way for the time.

Saw Frampton's Camel open for Steve Miller Band in Michigan State's Jenison Fieldhouse in early/mid 70's. They tore the roof off! Saw Frampton (The "Peter Frampton Band") in a bar in East Lansing, Michigan in support of the "Frampton" album, and then again at the Eastern Michigan Univeristy Football Stadium with Yes, Dave Mason and Ace. Peter Frampton makes my "Top 5 Guitarists I've Ever Seen" list (or for that matter very heard...) every time.

I echo all of the positive comments here. What 25 year old is this confident and rocking? Plus a triple threat: excellent guitar playing, vocalist and performer? There is no where to hide playing live in the studio, no over dubs, no effects to hide behind, no crowd noise to hide the bad notes. This performance shows why Come Alive is still enduring. Just great solid musicianship.

As guitar player who knows I rate Frampton as one of the greats.
