Concert Summary

Following modest success in the mid-1960s in the Herd and increasing popularity during his five-album tenure in Humble Pie, lead guitarist Peter Frampton embarked on a solo career. At the time, many found this move questionable as Humble Pie were just breaking through to American audiences with the release of Rockin' The Fillmore, a raw exuberant live album that captured the original group at the peak of their powers and showcased Frampton's guitar playing in a most positive light. Over the course of the next several years, Frampton released several promising, but uneven albums,…entire summary

saw peter last summer and he was great. his latest album fingerprints is prolly his best in 30 years higly recommend it to any guitar fan. i've only seen him a few times since the late eighties never saw him in his glory days, i missed that last show at the garden 79,80 cant remember and each time its a lil different. time cahnges people change and they gotta mix it up a lil to keep it interesting and its gonna deviate from the past and maybe not liveup it. so i sympathize with some who havent been so pleased in the last few years with the new versions of th old. if ya think he's mixed it up check out dylan!!!

I saw PF a couple of summers ago and he was everything I had hoped for. I don't know about unrecognizable melodies..?? I cried when he played lines on my face...I had such a huge crush on him when I was 11 and never got to see him, he sold out so fast. He was playing FREE at a festival in MN USA and I would not complain about getting anything back had I paid $1oo for the tickets. He is so cute now, in a wife beater(it was very hot and humid) and his hair very short. It was the same soul I loved so long ago. Rock on, Peter....I will always love you!!!

Gotta disagree with Eeklair. I have seen Frampton 3 times in the past 5-10 years, and the man has gotten better with age. I like him better now than when he was at the top in the 70's. He seems more innovative, and he has the energy and drive to keep things going. He tries to make every song a little different from the past, and does a damn good job at it. And I think he is a much more accomplished player today than he was back then. I think the main problem is, that people go to see him and want to hear a repeat of the 70's, and while he will still play many of the songs from them days, he just doesnt want to do the same thing over and over again, and he does a great job of keeping the old songs fresh.

Peter Frampton came to Puerto Rico in summer 1981. It was the best concert I enjoyed.

I miss John Siomos. This Drummer can't find the groove. Peter sounds fab - sounds like himself. Not like he does today. I think these days Pete tries to re-invent himself too much. I saw him a few years ago and it sounded like a PF tribute band with a guitarist that didn't know the songs. I mean improvising guitar solos to keep it fresh is one thing, but to avoid repeating yourself so much that the songs are unrecognizable... He's tired of playing the songs maybe, but I bet he ain't tired of cashing the checks. Peter If you're reading this, I love ya mate, but at least hint at the classic once in a while. Frampton Comes Alive doesn't just contain Guitar solos, it contains well known recognizable melodies where the guitar solos go.. And when you don't hint at them in concert I, we, feel a bit jipped.
