Concert Summary

Begun in the mid-1970s as a comedy gala fundraiser to support the human rights organization Amnesty International, the Secret Policeman's Ball and its various spin-offs can in retrospect be seen as the precursors to Live Aid and all the awareness-raising events in the decades to come. Galvanizing prominent entertainers in support of social causes was the name of the game, and by 1979, the Secret Policeman's Ball ran for four consecutive nights at Her Majesty's Theater in London, resulting in two live albums—one of comedy and one of musical highlights.     this was released in england as an 8 track 12" called "The Secret Polceman's Ball -The Music "retailing at ?1.99 back in the day, you have missed out on the version of "Drowned", also on there was 2 Tom Robinson Tracks, 2 John Wiliams classical covers, and a Neil Innes track. great versions of these song though

    Always great to hear Who songs stripped down to the basics and performed by their author. Love it. Wish Williams was more audible.

    Wolfgang folks, could you please add a field to concert descriptions that list the date the concert was added? This would be really helpful to longtime listeners like me! Would love the ability to search comments too. Keep up the outstanding work!
