Concert Summary

Pearl E. Gates has had extraordinary career, even before she adopted the nickname Pearl Harbor while fronting the pioneering Bay Area punk band, the Explosions. In the mid-1970s, Gates was a backup singer and dancer with the Tubes, one of the most innovative (and controversial) rock acts to emerge from the Bay Area. By 1977, Gates had left to join an up-and-coming group called Leila and the Snakes. That band would essentially go nowhere, but as the punk movement grew and became more commercially viable, Gates felt she had the wherewithal to develop her own project. With guitarist Peter Bilt…entire summary

I would love to buy this rare rare recording as a download too. PLEASE MAKE IT AVAILABLE. I saw Pearl many times in the 70's by far my favorite of the SF punk scene bands. I was there when Pearl and Leila broke into a catfight on stage at the Keystone in the middle of a song. Leila made the band stop during one of Pearl's dance tunes, insisting that Disco Sucks (in her thickest German accent). The fight ensued, we (the audience) were not sure if the fight was real or just part of their show. # days later Pearl announced the breakup of the Snakes and the beginning of The Explosions.

The naval base was spread over an area of 22,000 acres. Pearl Harbour received designation as the new base of the American Pacific Fleet. This was due to increasing hostility on the part of Japan. Pearl Harbour served as the headquarters of many military commands of America in the Pacific region.

This bio is not correct. PH and The Explosions broke up after the first album. She released Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too on her own, and it is true, it didn't sell as the songwriting wasn't that strong, but her vocals are still great. I saw her once in concert here in the SF Bay Area, just great, with The Explosions. I wish this was for sale.

This is FANTASTIC!!!! I am a BIG Pearl fan. I saw her countless times with Leila & the Snakes and Pearl Harbor and the Explosions in San Francisco in the 70's. Pearl is a great entertainer and can be seen in the tribute to Joe Strummer video available at your local record store or the internet. Thank you very much. Michael Bolan
