Concert Summary

This partial live show comes a full decade after the demise of Simon & Garfunkel, and was recorded while Simon was promoting his new album and semi-autobiographical film, One Trick Pony. The record, which Simon claimed was not a soundtrack, faired much better than the film (which was his first and last attempt at being a movie maker). The film has been forgotten, but the songs from the album went on to be part of his long term musical repertoire.

"Late In The Evening" was the biggest track to emerge…entire summary

The credits say that michael Brecker plays tenor sax on this recording. I don't hear him play and it can't be because he was in Germany playing with the Brecker Brothers at this exact date. here's a link where it becomes clear that they were on a European tour: http://www.michaelbreckerliverecordings.com/CD/chronologic.html He did some tracks on the studiotracks of One Trick Pony Best regards, Louis Gerrits owner of the www.michaelbreckerliverecordings.com website

I saw him for the first time on this tour in Brussels, Vorst Nationaal. The sound did not seem as jazzy as this, and I seem to recall an almost Gospel version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water". He ended his main set with Late in The Evening. For his second encore he did a solo acoustic version of "The Sounds Of Silence". The whole stadium (7,000 to $8,000 people), was quiet, you could hear a pin drop. When the song was over there was a brief silence and then we gave him a standing ovation that lasted forever. He kept taking bows till we finally quieted down. He then stepped up to the mike, and said "Great audiences make great concerts". He brought the band back out and they did another "Late In The Evening", that sounded more joyous than I have ever heard it. People were literally still dancing when walking out of the concert hall. I will never forget that concert. I do wish he could be more gracious in giving Art his due though.

I was 7 when One Trick Pony came out. I was already a huge Paul Simon fan, but this album became an instant favorite, and a huge influence on my own music. What a great live version this is! They should release a full concert of this tour! Doug Yoel http://www.myspace.com/dybrokenenglishpoem

This is a great concert. Thanks for making it available. Just blows me away. I know all Paul's stuff really well and these versions are the best I have ever heard. You can hear the jazz influence in every liquid note.

Steve "Bad" Gadd. Probably the best groove band playing popular music period.

Tony Levin played with Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon during this era.
