Concert Summary

The Stooges may have defined the sound and attitude of punk rock, and The New York Dolls lent it some style, but Patti Smith gave it its substance. Imbued with an all-consuming passion for the verse of Arthur Rimbaud and the grit of early rock 'n' roll, Patti combined simplicity and intellect to help forge the most vital and honest musical form of the 20th century.

patti is one of the best. loved her the first time i listened to her.i just wished there were more woman like her. sans the make-up and hair do's she serves as an example of how real lady preformers need to take care of there talents. just be real as she is. unlike madonna etc etc.shesjust raw, the only other artist like her is riki lee jones. i wonder if they're related. [just kidding] rock-on patti where ever you are.....

Only 30 minutes of the full concert but this is Patti at her very finest! I originally heard this broadcast on the radio in Philadelphia, PA. in my youth. I recorded it and played it countless times over and over (at full volume I might add, which is the only way to hear this) until I lost the cassette, whence my Mother regained her sanity. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy! Here it is again!!! My youth regained! Thank you Wolfgang! Listen closely during, Ask The Angels", the first track as she berates the lackadasical french audience to "Get up, GET UP, GET THE FUCK UP!" and "WE DON"T NEED YOU!" when they don't. Fabulous! Just like the Gilda Radner impersonation on Saturday Night Live. Roland Ott manrolo3@yahoo.com Friday June, 6, 2008 7pm

This show was performed at the Paris's Pavillon de Paris venue. It was a tour to promote the Easter album. I remember this concert as one of the best I've ever seen. More than 30 years ago. Time is on my side.....
