The Who came to the Fillmore East for six glorious nights in October and performed their rock opera, Tommy, in full for the first time in the United States. Graham gave Joshua White and his team $5000 from the profits of the already sold-out concerts to develop a spectacular light show to accompany the debut. On The Who's first night, David LaFlamme said, "No one heard a word [the opening band] sang because they wouldn't stop screaming 'Tommy! Tommy!' "
The 1st printing poster was printed before the concert and measures 23 1/4" x 37 1/4".
The 2nd printing is on glossy cover stock and bears a Wolfgang's Vault notation in the lower right hand margin (not our watermark as seen in the image). It was printed in 2009 by the Bill Graham Archives LLC in a 500 copy run and measures 23 1/8" x 37".
