Concert Summary

Nils Lofgren was still establishing himself on the musical turf when he recorded this rare and exciting concert on KSAN-FM's "Live From The Record Plant" series on Halloween night, 1975. Lofgren had finished a run in the band Grin (with his brother Tom) and was an on-again/off-again member of Neil Young & Crazy Horse when he landed a solo deal on A&M Records. Though Lofgren never had a massive chart-topping hit that made him a household name, he did have…entire summary

Nils released this cd on his web site a few years ago, titleing it simply "Bootleg". It is a guitar lovers dream. Long, extended jams on some of his best songs. One of the most soulful guitarists on the planet!

Like Nils, I'm a Baltimore boy. I saw Nils several times in the early 70's play with his brother in their band Grin. I'll never forget his brilliant guitar licks and stage presence. Back in the day, he would have a trampoline on stage and do amazing back flips during soaring guitar solos. He's a musician to his soul. Just mention his name to Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen and they'll attest to that.

very nice to hear this one without the pops that are on my vinyl. rock & roll crook is there too. now i have to record the thing. i always wondered if there was more to this show than was on the vinyl. recording stuff from this site is always a bit of a pain, but i have to have it in this form. my results are always awesome, so there goes a portion of my day. ahh, the music! peace, jim

I had this concert on an old tape, that I lost. Nils lofgren is a great artist who is always related with Springsteen. I knew him before Springsteen and I appreciate him als well as the Boss. This concert is a real beauty.

I think this is the show released as an A&M promo disc called "Bootleg," eh? It didn't have R&R Crook on it, however. I have the disc from the radio station at the time, loved the show, but the disc has seen some wear; nice to hear it a lot clearer than a scratchy record :) Always loved Nils with all the folks he's jammed with!

I saw this show at the Cleveland AGORA either in '74 or '75. What a consummate performer.
