Having been a member of the Martello International Dixieland Jazz band for some 34 years and now living in Spain playing still with my own quartet, members who like me have played in concert with the New Black Eagles, I am delighted to find a site that actually does promote Trad. Keep it up guys.

Having never heard of this band, it was pure serendipity as I stumbled into some of the happiest old New Orleans jazz I've heard in a long long time. I've been listening to jazz on radio since 1945, it all started for me with Benny Goodman. His clarinet used to send that 8 year old boy to sleep each night with a smile on his face. I'm still smiling. I'd liked to hear more of their work.

The group is even better in person. Have seen them a few times at Tanglewood in the Berkshires. Unfortunately, Eli Newberger, the tuba player, is no longer with the group.
I have photos of the band at Tanglewood several years ago.

Hi, This is a recording of my band and I have no recollection of us being recorded at that time. You have a few of the tracks incorrectly list - Track 5 is Michigander Blues; track 9 is Petite Fleur; track 10 is Once In A While; track 11 is The Purple Rose Of Cairo.

If you need I can supply the names of the musiciians. The next question is how we can get a copy of the master to maybe use a couple of tracks on our 40th Anniversary CD issues due out next year. Tony Pringle

Love it! The clarinet gives me goose bumps, reminds me of my grandfather playing in the livingroom.

Really wonderful. Played with a genuine feeling of music the way it was played in the late 19th century and beginnging of the 20th century, reminiscent of the times of Buddy Bolden, the elegantly smooth sound of Sidney Bechet's clarinet... An authentic sound of Old New Orleans!
