Concert Summary

There is no better example of Mountain at the height of its powers than this New Year's Eve concert at Fillmore East. The band was based out of Forest Hills so they were surrounded by friends, family, and an extremely enthusiastic audience. They had recently released their strongest and most cohesive album, Nantucket Sleighride and this great new material combined with the success of their previous album and single, "Mississippi Queen," inspires the group to play at peak capacity.

Following the Happy New Year introduction, the recording begins with a powerful take on "Never In…entire summary

one of the most underated bands that helped define the hard rock era. Leslie's wall of sound is still the benchmark....Felix's angelic melodies ,vocals and Jack Bruce-esque bass playing is awesome...while Corkykept it going and made a new business for the giant cowbell!

I love Mountain Saw them many times at Convention Centerl in Asbury Park lte 60 's early 70's They get no credit for what they did

I saw Mountain multiple times in the 70's. LW's Les Paul Jr. through a bunch of Sun amps sounded great, Corky Lang bangin' on the drums breaking sticks all over the place, and Felix playing bass with a pick. Rock at its peak.

Hey Bubba, the drums are never too loud. Rich the drummer!

I agree that Steve was an asset. He was never mixed right on the albums but you hear him fine on the live stuff. Does anyone ever regret a Hammond B3--strained through a Leslie?

Guitars are muddy, and lifeless. The drums too loud. I have certainly heard better Mountain Live performances. I even saw Leslie West by himself in a small venue on Jersey Coast back in late 70's and he rocked better than this.

Killer Version of "Dreams of Milk and Honey" a pal of mine when I was 13-14 from Corona,Queens N.Y. played me this from "Flowers of Evil" when we were in Military School together in Florida in '71-'72... This is still the greatest Mountain piece for improvisation and jamming...The only person as good as ol' Felix is still Jack Bruce...I would LOVE to see West Bruce & Laing reform to prove to the world that they were one of the heaviest bands around in 1971-1973..I actually ran away from Florida Air Academy to try to get to the Pirates World show in Dania,Florida in '72...Anyone out there go to these two gigs on Friday and Saturday nights at Pirate's World? Also Vinnie turned me onto : Humble Pie's "Rockin' The Fillmore",If,Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes "Survival of the Fittest" LIVE,Savoy Brown,The Allman Brothers and others...
