Concert Summary

In a late 1998 interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins was asked to describe what his band's next album would sound like. Reluctant to give too much away, he replied "I will tell you that it's going to sound a lot like Mountain." No doubt this comment sent more than a few Pumpkin fans out looking for Mountain CDs; sadly, most of Mountain's albums are pretty hard to find, save for a few compilations. But every rock 'n' roll…entire summary

I have a vinyl of the double live set "Twin Peaks" that I think I bought around 1976 or so. Recorded in Japan. These guys really rocked hard. One of my favorite bands of all time.

Well borriffick, this is not proper song, actually.

It originally was a part within the 20 plus minutes version of "Nantucket Sleighride" they did on that night (and in 73/74 in general). However, as the undoctored version of this show reveals (officially released in 2004 by Voiceprint Records as "Capitol Theater, 20/12/1973" as Vol. 3 with their "Official Bottleg Series"), King Biscuit's recording obviously cut out midway through this number.

Therefore, the guys in charge of the 2000 KBFH CD release obviously decided to chop out this intrumental part, place it before NS and sell it as a seperate number (and fade out NS after some 10 minutes).

As you may notice, it is a guitar duel between Lez West and David Perry. However, King Biscuit mixed Perry out almost entirely and made it rather sound like a Lez solo piece. Also, BTW, Felix's bass was mixed very low on this release whereas the Voiceprint version has both Perry and Pappalardi as prominent as they originally were.

The King Biscuit version though comes with more tracks, i.e. in addition with "Mississippi Queen" (most probably recorded on Nov. 6, 1974 in Detroit) and the "Whole Lotta Shakin/Roll Over Beethoven"-medley from the other show on the same night (12/30/73) which was taken from KBFH's orig. early 1974 30 minutes b'cast version.

Hope this helps a wee bit.

    Mountain ahoy!
    Th:-)mas

Does anyone know anything about this song "It's For You"? I've never heard it and can't find it anywhere else. Totally killer song.

What is the debate about? This was the crapiest live album next to Twin Peaks. Give me Flowers of Evil live side any day. Saw them in Chicago in early 1970,(AWESOME) 1971,(KILLER) 1972 and after that, total crap. No Steve Knight and too many drugs. They should have done so much more than they did. What a waste......................

Great show!!! I was there. Late show. Felix's birthday. John Scher brought out a cake and we sang Happy Birthday to him. ZZ Top opened the show. Played until about 5:00 am or so! One of the loudest shows I've ever been too! Ears still ringin'!! Long Live Moutain!!!!

Leslie kickin' out the finest, as usual, but what happened to the bess in the mix? Can anyone remix Felix's much needed part especially in Miss. Queen? To have seen this show had to be a fine time. Keep it coming Wolfgang's Vault! Great job!
