Concert Summary

A foul wind was blowing down the Sunset Strip at the dawn of the '80s, withering the last remaining petals of Flower Power and ushering in a new era of decadence and debauchery unencumbered by social responsibilities. The source of this wind was not the sleepy Pacific coastline a few miles away, but a dingy apartment around the corner from the Whiskey a Go Go, where the members of Motley Crue were inventing what would fast become the dominant musical genre of the next decade.

CRUE CRUE CRUE! Glad they are back on top! One of the greatest rock bands ever! Ive been to every concert that has come through colorado. Nikki may write all the songs, vince has the voice, tommy is an amazing drummer, BUT MICK IS MOTLEY CRUE! Without his style ans sound of guitar playing, it wouldnt be the same. LONG LIVE MICK!

Oh yeah, one more thing that stands out in my mind from this concert: There was this super thin, hot blond chick, for some reason in a designer business suit. Well in any case, she was standing on something along the wall on the right side - about row 5 or 6. Well she was leaning over the whole time and had no bra on. So her right breast was hanging out the entire time. Pretty lame by today's standard but it was glorious in those days... Another thing. Mick Mars turned his back to the audience and pretended to play guitar while they piped out the album version of "God Bless The Children Of The Beast". He got a huge ovation but it was painfully obvious to anyone who semi-observant.

I was at this show, too. I thought Ratt was better... No just kidding. I remember Nikki shouting out to us (a bunch of 15-yr old volunteer ushers in an empty Orpheum) watching the sound check. Trying to impress us by saying "fuck" over the PA-system. In retrospect I think he was coked out of his mind but at the time I thought it was both wicked cool and sort of embarrassing.

This concert is pretty hot and all instruments are pretty well balanced. Vince has the voice he had on the first album which is my favorite.
