Mitch Ryder made me sit up when he first came on the music scene: high rockin' R&B energy, risque lyrics, raw voice, Jim McCarty on guitar, etc. I saw him live several times, mostly early on and ended up buying most of his albums. This is a good, clear, but limited set. He has a biography out there if you care to read up on him, and he's still putting out a CD now and then, mostly in Germany. Yes, he's still got a decent voice--he knows how to pace himself.

Who bought those albums? I did! I saw him live in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom in 1969 and he and his band were indeed 'animals' - sweat flew everywhere from the band and the audience! Tremendous energy! Sadly, though, he seems to have shredded his vocal chords, so to get the true picture today you'll have to get the albums...

Mitch Ryder is an underrated true rock'n'roll animal brought to my attention by a Rockpalast broadcast at the end of the seventies. Thanks to WDR for that. Great band at that time and great concerts in Amsterdam. Some great albums too but who bought them? Please put more of his concerts on the Vault. George
