Concert Summary

After several years of forging his music into new directions and embracing electronic instrumentation and amplification, this was a fascinating time to catch Miles Davis in concert. He was enjoying a creative and commercial peak, and was playing before larger audiences than any other time in his career. On this particular tour, he opened for the Band at the Hollywood Bowl, and this show was recorded on the final night of a four-night run opening for Mandrillentire summary

i can't believe this is available! my fave musician in one of his best bands...great review, as well. In response to the person that thought here were 2 keys, you may have seen them the year before as well, when chick corea was also in the band...check out the isle of wight dvd, if ya haven't seen it already...miles was the father of fusion, too bad it got watered down! this is where medeski martin and wood picked up, and some of the recent scofield as well...recent being last 10 years or so. In response to tiedye eric, KEEP LISTENING! this music will change your life, and don't forget to check out the careers of each of the band members...you would not believe the prolific output of these people, and i'm coming from a deadhead perspective! Long live bill graham, and miles!

very cool! i really need to listen to more miles. once during a radio interview i referred to miles as mile. i got a bit tongue tied. my drummer broke out laughing and fired back with who is mile? is that miles davis' brother? it was good fun. he still pokes fun at me about that. anyway, what an awesome player and what awesome music. front of the class for sure. peace, jim

I 2 wz their... However, unless I was seeing double there were two Rhodes players. Unless Miles played the F.W. twice...? Keith Jarrett explains one, but both were sporting some pretty hefty Afro's and sat on either side of the stage from the other, hair bobbing, elbows flying. It was a lifetime exsperience. Maybe Herbie sat in on the night I was there, or after all these years I realized I was seeing double... <
