Concert Summary

Impressed by their opening performances a week or so earlier, Graham invited Bloomfield, Gravenites, Naftalin and friends to headline over The Byrds and Pacific Gas and Electric for three more nights the following week.

"Born In Chicago" is a different arrangement than the Butterfield Blues Band version. In fact, Bloomfield lays low throughout this song, letting the horn section lead the way. At times this approaches free jazz, but the rhythm section keeps it grounded in the blues idiom. "Big City Woman" is another feast for fans…entire summary

I think his vocals are good. I don't know what that guy is talking about. Not everyone needs to sing like Muddy Waters. And those white guys that try end up sounding like Johnny Winter or something. Bloomfield had soul in his singing and his playing. Nuff said.

Yo Anonymous ... yes, we all know he can play .. but sing???? Gimme a break, OK? Mike (God rest his soul) couldn't sing his was out of a brown paper bag ... I mean the dude sucked at the vocal thing ... and I think he'd be the first to admit it. So don't try to polish a turd and sell it to me as a gold bar cuz I ain't buying...

Had the great privilege of jamming with Mike at Mother's in Cicero in 1970. He played for about 9 hours without repeating a lick. I was 17 at the time. For me, it was a master class in the blues. Best guitarist I've ever played with.

not sure I buy the "saw Hendrix and couldn't play for a year" , Jimi was incredible but I listen to Bloomfield and at his best was every bit as good as Jimi tone-wise....it's just the the structure of hendrix's forays were something no one had done before nor sense, his songwriting was as scary as his playing. But Mike was right there, all I have to do is listen to EAST/WEST and I know who really created psychedelic guitar along with Jerry Garcia.
