Concert Summary

Mike and the Mechanics began as a side project by Genesis member Mike Rutherford while the band was in hiatus and Phil Collins was off conquering the world of pop. Originally an outlet for songs he was writing that didn't feel right for Genesis' sound, Mike and the Mechanics eventually became a large act all on its own, thanks largely from the help of a hit…entire summary

Pretty great concert for such a limited catalogue at the time. Sure do miss the great voice of the greatly missed Paul Young. nice to hear him in fine form here.

You are correct, Ashley Mulford was on stage that night. We've corrected that in our summary.

According to the website House of Many Rooms, http://www.houseofmanyrooms.com/index.html Ashley Mulford also played guitar on this tour. Mike mentions him at then end of "Maxine" Read more at http://www.houseofmanyrooms.com/biog.html

Very good sound , indeed! I just would like to know if Mike Rutherford was playing bass pedals linked to a keyboard , or else . It reminds us all of the typical sound of the 80's , and I dig Paul Carrack & Paul Young ...

I also want to hear Hanging By A Thread. Also: Did Rutherford really play all the guitar and bass at this show? I'm pretty sure I hear two guitars sometimes. The personnel listed seems to be taken from the first studio album. Anyone actually know who played what on the tour?

Hanging By A Thread... yeah good question. All I can hear is Australian rock "guru" Ian (Molly) Meldrum introducing the band - for some inexplicable reason! Maybe it's a reference to his tenuous hold on sanity? Great sounding concert though.
