Concert Summary

In 1967 and 1968, rapid social change, a highly charged political climate and technological advances in recording combined to have a profound effect on popular music. California and England had become the epicenters of rock music, resulting in the peak years of psychedelia. The music being popularized during this time often directly reflected the environments of these bands. The media was quick to recognize and capitalize on the simplicity of the "Peace and Love" esthetic that permeated much of this era's music, but often chose to ignore what was simultaneously happening in other, more…entire summary

Its hard for most to remember 1968 unless you were there. We really thought music would change the world and Eldrige should be freed and Huey should be let loose. Bless those who who believed and sorry we didnt do a better job. A lot of poeple lost their lives in pursuit of an idea-I remember that guy at Peoples Park in Berekely who was blinded. And Kent State and many others Action has consequences but there was little choice at the time. Lets hoe it wasn't all in vain.

A couple of these tracks are from 10/30, but "I'm Mad Like Eldridge Cleaver" is from 10/27 and "Ice Pick Slim" is from May '68. I believe that all of these tracks have been released on various CDs put out on the Total Energy label with the assistance of John Sinclair. Nothing new here, but it's nice to make it more widely available.

That's what I like about 69: on the one hand the Dead and on the other hand the MC5; both different, both great.

If only FLAC versions were offered...I would buy DOZENS of shows! I'm not spending ANY money on 256 bitrate MP3s.
